Take Courage with a Badass Tribe of Women on Oct. 18
In every sphere of my complicated and blessed life, I hit the jackpot being surrounded by completely badass women. Perhaps I seek them out, or perhaps the universe knows I need them, but at work, home, church, our daughters’ schools, and everywhere in between, my tribe is comprised of women who are fierce and bold and brave.
And yet, in these recent few years, we all seem to feel anything but brave. All of us. Especially the ones who seem to have it all together. Especially people like me.
There’s a low-grade anxiety that we all carry around these days: social injustices, political turbulence, uncertain economies, all while raising digitally engaged children who we desperately want to not screw up. Oh, and Mother Nature is in full-on menopause and throws us a hurricane or a tornado every time we get our footing. Thanks, sister.
And so I find myself leaning into my precious, badass tribe all the time to be reminded that I’m enough, I’m fierce, and I’ve still got it.
One member of my tribe is Danessa Knaupp. She founded Avenue 8 Advisors and, I kid you not, is the best executive coach I’ve met in my lifetime. In my line of work, I’ve met a lot of them. Lucky for me, we are friends, so I get her keen observations on our morning walks for free.
Danessa and I were talking about the current crisis of courage, and how we want to lend our skills toward making it better. Leadercast Women RVA is our first attempt in this bigger goal to build a broader community of courage. Because we all need it.
